Forensic Therapist

Shara Cyrus is a forensic therapist for Mid-Atlantic Psychological Services. She is a licensed clinical social worker in the Washington D.C. metropolitan area. Mrs. Cyrus conducts psychotherapy and mental health assessments, as well as providing regular therapy for forensic clients. Mrs. Cyrus has varied experience and interests include trauma informed care, motivational interviewing and grief and loss and its impact on one’s daily functioning.

EDUCATION: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. Master’s in Social Work at New York University.

CREDENTIALS: Licensed Certified Social Worker – Clinical in the State of Maryland; Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker in the District of Columbia.

Mrs. Cyrus is a skillful clinician who is passionate about providing therapeutic services for underserved and marginalized populations. She utilizes cognitive-behavioral techniques and motivational interviewing to help set therapeutic goals to aid in positive progress. Mrs. Cyrus utilizes a collaborative approach to understand, integrate, and explore educational, social-emotional, cognitive, and adaptive strengths and weaknesses to support each client in a holistic manner, and to inform recommendations for every aspect of day-to-day life. Mrs. Cyrus focuses heavily on rapport building and a strengths-based approach to examine an individual’s behavior and explore better coping skills address factors that have become a barrier in their lives.
